“I love Celtic, loved my five years,” says Fraser Forster, “I’ll be a supporter for life”

Fraser Forster, like all but 700 lucky Celtic supporters at the game, was glued to his television screens on Sunday lunchtime watching the Bhoys get the better of theRangers to extend our lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership to six points with just six games remaining.

And of course Celtic’s goal difference advantage is such that this is effectively a seven point lead, remarkable really when we started the year trailing the One Season Wonders by six points after Celtic had been forced to play catch-up after three narrow defeats in the opening six games away to Hearts (2-1 defeat, an Abada goal wrongly disallowed for offside), theRangers (1-0 with Celtic missing numbers chances, including a sitter from Odsonne Edouard) and Livingston, losing 1-0 at the start of September.

Those are the only defeats Celtic have suffered domestically and since then Celtic gave gone back to all three venues of on league business to record wins.

Anyway while Joe Hart was completing more passes than any other player on the pitch at Ibrox on Sunday, according to Celtic by Numbers (see below), and was mentioned in the press today after being praised by Italian goalkeeping legend Gianluigi Buffon, big Fraser Forster was watching the Glasgow Derby on Sky Sports and spoke to the broadcaster from Southampton’s training ground where he started by admitting that he’s a huge Celtic fan, watches every game and will be a Celtic supporter for life after spending five years at the club over two spells.

“Yeah I did watch it, I watch all of them. As I’ve said I love Celtic, loved my five years I’ve had there in total and I’ll be a supporter for life ultimately.

“It was a huge result, obviously to go away to Ibrox concede early but to show that character and that reaction to put in a fantastic, solid team performance and come away with the three points ultimately its a huge result for them but it’s the same as always at the top of the league, it’s never over until it’s over so it’s going to be an interesting run in.

“Obviously it gives them the advantage but there’s still one more Old Firm (sic) and plenty of points to play for so it’s a huge result but there’s still a lot of work to do just to get that title over the line.

“It’s a massive result to go away from home, to go to Ibrox and get these three points. It’s a huge result for them, massive confidence for the Celtic lads so that will kick them on and hopefully they’ll have a very strong end to the season.”
