Podcast legend Si Ferry of OpenGoal fame, has been talking about the current Celtic squad and his thoughts on Ange Postecoglou’s leadership at the Scottish Champions. And the former Celtic youngster is certainly impressed, insisting that the style of play Postecoglou has brought to the club is the best he’s seen in his lifetime. Ferry goes as far to say that the Hoops could currently go up against any team and get a result, all due to our magnicent manager.
“I’m not surprised [about the links to Brighton]. Ange ticks all the boxes for the top clubs; how well he deals with the media is a factor but the most important thing is that he has a proper style and a real identity with his team and how they want to play,” Simon Ferry told Grosvenor Sport, as reported by Glasgow Live.
“Postecoglou has been a revelation for Celtic and his football is easily the best I’ve seen since I’ve been following Celtic. There’s no doubt that top clubs will be watching. I’m confident that Celtic could get a result against anyone right now. Ange has got the team playing fearlessly and knowing him, he’ll be setting his team up to go and win the game against RB Leipzig.”
“It also wouldn’t surprise me if they went over there, dominated the game and got caught on the counter-attack. We saw that in Postecoglou’s first league campaign and that’s how the Champions League is playing out for them right now.”
“My expectations are still the same as before. Celtic are very capable of finishing second in the group. Real Madrid are even better than I thought they’d be. I thought they’d beat Celtic but I thought it’d be more convincing. 3-0 is very convincing but in terms of performance, I thought they’d dominate the game and they didn’t. Ange’s style gives the players more belief that they can compete at this level and it makes you more confident that Celtic can make it out of the group stages. I think we’re looking at eight points if Celtic want to reach the knockout stages.”
Ange Postecoglou has certainly transformed Celtic since his arrival. Ferry correctly identifies how Ange’s leadership is now allowing Celtic to compete at the highest levels of football, and it is no wonder that English Premier League teams are starting to take an interested in the Celtic manager. luckily for us though he is here to stay and to take Celtic forward as a major player in Champions League football.
We could go through on 6 points ‘if’ we draw twice with RBL, beat SD, they lose to RBL, and RM take maximum points from everyone…its one of those groups.
RBL will be a tough double header, they play almost exactly like us and they matched RM for almost the entirety of their game, bar the two Madrid goals of course.
They’re in a similar position to us in that they’re creating chances but just not taking them
