“I will flood his house with red wine,” Rod Stewart’s Ange Postecoglou promise

Rod Stewart has joked that he will flood Ange Postecoglou’s house with red wine if he reaches the Scottish Cup Final this year. The rocker has been talking to Daily Record and revealed that he always sends the Hoops boss a crate after we beat the newest Ibrox club, either in the Scottish Premiership or the domestic Cups.

A well-established celebrity supporter, Stewart has been a consistent follower of the Bhoys for years now. He’s never shy in giving his opinion on the Parkhead outfit and their fierce Glasgow rivals and has been known to be very merry on occasion – particularly when helping make the draw for the Scottish Cup!

This recent admission from the singer is not in the least surprising and Ange Postecoglou must be finding the situation surreal. He’s certainly a fanatical fan the musician, and always has Celtic themed drums and things of that nature at his concert – even wearing the club’s colours at times during his performances. ‘Your in my heart, your in my soul’, as his song goes.

Rod the Mod has admitted that he is unashamedly a member of the Ange Postecoglou fan club and that he is grateful that the big man is here to manage the club. A coach that likes to play fast-paced, attacking football, the Greek-Aussie is certainly in the mould of Jock Stein and enjoys playing ‘the Celtic Way’. It’s part of the reason why he’s adored by so many, including rockstars!

We have the chance to make amends for last year’s disappointing defeat in the Scottish Cup Semi-final at Hampden Park against theRangers, which robbed us of what would have been a remarkable Treble. This time we can really wipe the slate clean and carry on in our quest for that clean sweep of domestic honours. Stewart insisted that if Ange wins this one on 30 April against Mick Beale’s side, he will flood his house with wine this team, such will be his gratitude.

The ageing artist said: “Every time they beat the theRangers, I send him a crate. This month I was so happy with the result, I sent him two crates. If Celtic beat them in the Scottish Cup semi-final and the last league game, I will flood his house with red wine. He’s just perfect and I hope he stays for a few more years.”

I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.
