Photo Of The Day: Paul McStay, The Maestro

Today’s photo of the day is one depicting a club legend.

Paul McStay was an unbelievably gifted footballer, so much so that the likes of Juventus almost tempted him away from Parkhead. However, he was also fiercely loyal to Celtic and a passionate supporter of the club, such that he held back his own career to carry a side which struggled for many years. Fortunately, he did get rewarded with some incredible moments in the club’s history too. He will forever be remembered for his part in the Love Street 86 miracle, his role in the Centenary double winning team and the side which brought a trophy back to Paradise after many tough years in the mid 90s.

Here Paul is shown in one of those joyous moments.

A man worthy of his place in that famous song which places him among “most of the football greats” to have “passed through Parkhead’s gates”.
