Incoming Celtic signing Kieran Tierney has spoken about the emotional experience of playing his last game for Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium…

The left-back was subbed on for Leandro Trossard in the 88th minute during Arsenal’s 1-0 victory over Newcastle United on Sunday, helping secure a second-place finish for the Gunners in the Premier League.
In an interview with talkSPORT, the 27-year-old expressed his appreciation for being given a final cameo against Eddie Howe’s side: “It was emotional because I knew the reception I was going to get,” Tierney said. “For the five or 10 minutes I was on, I had to put that to the side and stay focused.”
“It’s mental. I don’t really know what I’ve done for them to love me like this.”
“It’s mental. I don’t really know what I’ve done for them to love me like this. I’m grateful. I think they can see that I give everything every time, wherever I’m asked to play. That’s what they appreciate the most.”

The Scotland international is poised to make his comeback to Celtic this summer, almost six years after his £25 million move to North London. So far, Tierney has featured in 143 matches for Arsenal, with a loan spell at La Liga side Real Sociedad last season.

Tierney added: It’s disappointing [not having more game time]. You always want to win more and more trophies, but I’ve got no doubt that this team going forward is going to win more than one. I’m telling you right now, they’ll win things.”
“I’ve had to grow up here. It was the first time I’d left my house and moved away.”
“I’ve had to grow up here. It was the first time I’d left my house and moved away. The people at the club have been amazing with me, I’m very lucky and feel privileged to represent the club for so long.”
“A message to the fans? A simple thank you. I’ll never forget the reception I got. It means a lot to me, it’s special, and I’m very grateful for everything they’ve done for me.”
