It’s looking increasingly likely that Wilfried Nancy, will be appointed as the next Celtic manager and if that turns out to be the case we all need to give him our full support from the moment he is appointed…
Wilfried Nancy looks like he’s going to be the man to replace Brendan Rodgers as Celtic manager with the Frenchman being said to be close to a deal to take the reins anytime soon.
Some were fooled into believing he wasn’t in the running due to talks taking place in London, and with the Frenchman still based across the Atlantic. Interviews are always held in person nowadays eh? Zoom anyone? That was exactly how Ange Postecoglou was appointed as he sat in his small apartment in Japan.
Some supporters are not too keen on the idea, as was the case with Big Ange and I must admit I have had my reservations over Nancy taking the job, due to his lack of experience in this continent in a coaching capacity. Yes I know Ange was in a similar situation, but their respective careers paths were chalk and cheese in terms of top level experience.
Nancy is used to the relatively pressure free environment of the MLS, and to say acclimatising to Scotland will be a culture shock to the Frenchman, would be an understatement.
But if he is indeed to be the new manager, it’s imperative he receives our full backing. He deserves that much. Let’s hope he proves all the doubters including myself wrong and we’re all pleasantly surprised.
