Celtic were created by Brother Walfrid in November 1887 with the mission to combat abject poverty in Glasgow’s East End. 135 years later, the club is continuing to serve one of its first aims.
“A football club will be formed for the maintenance of dinner tables for the children and unemployed.”
Brother Walfrid.
The GB often come under criticism from the media for their passionate support of the club along with occasional political messages; however, there can only be words of praise towards the club, who once again rise to address a social cause.
Celtic won the game 4-2 thanks to late goals from Kyogo and Liel Abada. Ange Postecoglou takes his team to Motherwell tomorrow night where the home side will host their own food drive. It is a sorry state of affairs that the support must unite and lend a helping hand to others in society while the government allows the cost of living to rise.
