It’s strange to think this game was theoretically still in the balance at half time. Sure, Celtic completely dominated the first half but they only had one goal and Ross County were one good attack from leveling things up.
It appears that Neil Lennon was in no mood to let The Staggies find a way back into this one. HITC picked up on some of his comments from a report in The Sun, and it shows what Lenny said at half time and how it helped to inspire the second half demolition.

Speaking about what what said, the gaffer said: “We threw down the challenge at half-time – we can be a nice team and play good football and give the other team oxygen to stay in the game or be ruthless.”
He went on to say: “They answered in spades. We have a good team and there’s more to come from them. That was a marvellous all-round team performance.”
There was some suggestions from Michael Stewart and James McFadden after the game that Ross County had actually played okay. They might have had some nice moments, but the final scoreline shows this was anything but close.
The result is the perfect way to get over the Livi defeat and sets up Thursday’s game against Lazio perfectly. If Celtic can get the win at home they would put themselves in a brilliant position to qualify for the group stages. It’s a big ask but if they could somehow find a way to get four points from the Lazio double header then they would be odds on to qualify.
Hopefully Neil Lennon has a few more inspirational team talks in his back pocket for those games.
