Callum McGregor has been having a splendid season so far. The skipper scoring yet another goal from outside the box yesterday to take his season’s tally to an impressive six goals. yesterday’s was possibly the best of the lot.

That goal indeed put him at the top of the Scottish Premiership scoring charts as he once again showed how important he is to our side.

It’s no coincidence that the Celtic captain’s form has improved since he took the decision to retire from international football after Euro2024 back in the summer.

Callum at one stage had played more games than any footballer in Europe, and despite keeping himself in great shape, it was always going to catch up on him at some point, as it did last season when he missed a few games through injury and it notably effected his performance when he was declared fit to play again.

That heavy demand of going away on international duty is no longer a burden on Callum, and with there having been three international breaks already this campaign, Callum has had the opportunity to rest and concentrate on his club career, which has benefited himself and our club massively.

Callum looks totally refreshed and has added a new dimension to his game, which proves that calling time on his international career was totally the right call.
