Ismaila Soro, Wish You Were Here – Celtic announce successful medical but work permit wait goes on

CELTIC have announced ahead of the trip to Rugby Park this evening that midfielder Ismaila Soro has passed his medical, which has taken place in Israel.

“Celtic Football Club is delighted today to announce that midfielder Ismaila Soro has successfully completed a medical ahead of his proposed transfer to the club,” the statement on the club’s official site stated.

“Celtic has already agreed terms with Israeli club, Bnei Yehuda, and also agreed a four-and-a-half year contract with the player.

“Subject to the ongoing work permit process and international clearance, Ismaila will be in Glasgow as soon as possible.

“Everyone at Celtic looks forward to welcoming Ismaila to the club.”

The player has been pictured wearing a Celtic strip – and some more cautious supporters might have preferred waiting until the work permit process had been sorted. The club last June were embarrassed after a leaked photograph emerge of David Turnbull sitting next to Neil Lennon and the player wearing a Celtic top, only for a problem to emerge at his medical.

Turnbull is still recovering from the resulting operation – ‘It was horrible. After the operation I couldn’t even lift my leg,’ David Turnbull’s knee op nightmare – as we reported on at the weekend.

Hopefully Celtic’s confidence in showing Soro in the Hoops means that the deal will be fine, sorted soon and we’ll see him in Glasgow asap!

Welcome to Celtic Ismaila Soro  but we wish you were here!
