Italian giants are not scared off as Celtic demand at least €15m to let exciting defender leave

It always feels like a bonus when you have an attacking full back who is actually exiting to watch, so it was only a matter of time before Jeremie Frimpong would attract some interest.

His form has suffered a bit this season as he’s been exposed by the poor play of the other defenders around him, but he has the pace and desire in his game to become a top-level full back.

A report from Inside Futbol has indicated that Celtic will demand at least €15m to let him go, but Roma are very interested in bringing him in and they won’t be put off by that price tag.

It’s confirmed that his contract runs until 2023 so Celtic aren’t in a position where they need to sell him, but they might decide to cash in if the price is right.

You also have to think that there will be interest in Eddy and Ajer next month so the club simply cannot afford to sell all of their best players when you look at the league situation, so it would be a surprise if any more than one of the trio actually move on.

It would be a shame to see him leave because a proper replacement would need to be found and he’s still developing so we probably haven’t seen him at his best yet either, but funds may be required to improve the squad next month.

Roma will be able to pay him a better wage and they’re more likely to offer him regular participation in Europe after Christmas, so hopefully the interest doesn’t turn into a bid so the club aren’t forced into a decision here.
