“It’s an exciting time to be a football player at Celtic,” Jota

As we delivered our first of (hopefully) three more pieces of silverware this season, the bond that has been created between the manager, players, and supporters must not be forgotten when taking into account all that has happened this past while at Celtic Park. Since Ange Postecoglou walked in the door, we have totally reset as a club and we all owe him a tremendous debt of gratitude for this.

Never has a time in recent memory been so vivid with the connection that exists between the supporters and the team. We have totally transformed over the past two seasons from a club that was bereft of energy and ideas, to one that is looking like it knows where it’s going and what it’s doing. Again, that is largely down to Ange.

Yes, times are sweet at the minute if your of a Celtic persuasion and there seems no signs posted up ahead to suggest that they will stop any time in the near future. As Ange Postecoglou has already come out and said – much to the apoplexy of the mainstream media and fans of a certain other club in Scotland – he will be here a lot longer than those outside the Parkhead bubble think.

Well, Felipe Jota has added to this feel-good feeling that is now wafting and permeating through the ether in Glasgow’s East End currently, by stating that the players are loving life in the Hoops and want more success. Speaking to Celtic TV, he said: “It was tremendous. I think the boys did really well and I’m proud of them, proud of the team and the staff, and this is another one for the fans and our families because we work really hard every day to achieve things like this, and today was no different, so I’m really happy.

“I think it’s an exciting time to be a football player at Celtic, and a Celtic fan as well because in every game there’s something new happening and we can really deliver good performances. It’s always really important to have their support in each game, and today was no different. I’m really proud of the fans we have and then it’s up to us to demonstrate good football.

“And I think we have been making everyone proud with the type of football we play. This is the thing about football – you work so much to get this tiny bit of joy but then you just need to process everything all over again because there’s something new coming up in the next few months, so we need to get ready for that, and that’s our aim definitely.”

Our superstar from Portugal also recognised the unique and quite frankly special bond and effort that is now residing within the walls at Lennoxtown. Each player has played their part at some point throughout the season and Jota insists it is that teamwork and togetherness that is helping deliver yet more trophies to the cabinet at Parkhead. He added: “Every final asks for different things and this one was the same.

“We know that Rangers were going to have some good things as well and we needed to defend well, which we did. In the end, we just need to see the work of everyone – it’s not just about the 11 guys that start, it’s an all-in-one. Everyone helps and fights for the same thing and today is a day for the Celtic community.”

I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.
