J Soccer Magazine on Celtic’s new signing Kyogo Furuhashi – “Leaving them on their backsides-style attacker”

J Soccer Magazine posted a thread on Celtic new signing Kyogo Furuhashi and invited a selection of Scottish newspapers to get in touch to discuss the player. We’ll do that now as no doubt will other members of the Celtic fan media…

KYOGO FURUHASHI to Celtic thread:

“Having been a huge fan of this boy since his days scoring for fun at Gifu, I was VERY happy to see him come to my hometown team and have been honoured to meet him many times. A pleasure to speak to, humble, quiet off the field, but a STAR!

“He then made the national team and, of course, I got the shirt to add to my Gifu no.11 and Vissel no.16. Kyogo signed my Vissel shirt one day – I had to ask, I was wearing it at the time (underneath a track top so my fan boy status would be hidden!)

“Ange Postecoglou obviously knew his target and a few “joke” tweets about Furuhashi being a Celtic target have come true. Celtic you have a gem on the way! Celtic FC Shop, beware the rush on shirts!

“Vissel Kobe fans will thank @Kyogo_Furuhashi for staying so long at their club. Offers have been pouring in for three years. Promise of playing with Iniesta, Villa (and a pay rise, I’m sure) kept him at Vissel for 2019. ACL football for 2020 helped convince him to stay for more…

“… but now it is time to let our b(h)oy fly away. All connected with @JSoccerMagazine and https://JSoccer.com wish Kyogo Furuhashi the BEST of success. VERY good to hear, also, that Vissel getting a decent transfer fee, unlike many Japanese clubs who lose player too cheaply

“Should add to this thread, easier to see for all:

Furuhashi – fast breaks, running onto through passes or over top balls. Dribbling winger, too. Running at DFs, leaving them on their backsides-style attack.

Not afraid to try to beat man (and can), but can pass, pass, pass (as Ange Postecoglou will want / do) too. Good finisher.

Over-selling him? Don’t think so. Enjoy the experience and take care of “my boy”!”
