Jackie McNamama on Bobo, Barca and Celtic’s half time fight night

JACKIE McNAMARA tells the story of the night Big Bobo Balde got away with a red card against Barcelona and instead the Celtic captain on the night had to go back into the dressing room at half time and tell the unfortunate Rap Douglas that he had been sent off instead.

And Martin O’Neill was less than pleased!

Alan Thompson, who is with Jackie for this interview with Irish TV, went on to score the winner than eventful night in 2004. Here’s Jackie telling this story and a little about what happened in Seville…

Meanwhile the latest podcast from the Football Blogging Awards Podcast of the Year for 2018 – The Celtic Star Podcast is out now. Paul John Dykes is joined by Jackie’s best mate, a player who won every domestic honour for Celtic in the 1990s – Simon Donnelly.

Simon discusses the season when Wim Jansen’s side stopped the ten; his friendship with Jackie McNamara; the brilliance of Paolo, Pierre and Henrik; his regret at not winning the league for Tommy Burns; and the meteoric rise of Andrew Robertson.
