Jakob Breum drops departure hint from Go Ahead Eagles

Jakob Breum has hinted at a possible departure from Go Ahead Eagles this summer, as Celtic continue to show interest in securing his signature with three Hoops bids already rejected by the Dutch side…

The 21 year-old seems to be a priority target for the Hoops in their search for options in the wide areas with the league campaign kicking off on Sunday.

Following Nicolas Kuhn joining ambitious Serie A side Como in a deal worth over £16.5 million earlier this summer and Jota out injured until next year, Brendan Rodgers is left with clear gaps to fill in the forward areas.

The Scottish champions have had bids of approximately £3 million turned down by Go Ahead Eagles, who are holding out for a fee nearer to £6.5 million.

Prior to the summer transfer window opening, Breum acknowledged he is ready to take the next step in his career in the future.

Speaking in an interview via TV 2, the winger said: “Of course I have ambitions to try myself at a higher level, but when that is, time will tell.  I’m not just going to play a few good months and then take the next step. I can still develop even more here, so I’m not in a hurry to get away.”

Breum added: “I’m very open to the next step. It all depends on what offers come in. It’s not like I have certain leagues that I just have to go to. But of course I’m aiming for as high a level as possible because it’s the dream to play against the very best.”

Meanwhile, a report over the weekend has claimed that Celtic are one of several clubs keeping tabs on Manchester City centre-back Jahmai Simpson-Pusey.

The 19-year-old defender featured in six first-team matches for City last season. Simpson-Pusey was also part of the Champions League squad when Pep Guardiola’s side travelled to face Sporting Lisbon last campaign.

  2. Celtic need a right winger, URGENTLY!! Breum is a central attacking midfielder, Balikwisha is a left winger. We need at least one right winger WHO PLAYS THAT POSITION!! I can’t recall being linked with one the whole transfer window!! WTF IS GOING ON!! Celtic have raked in £36 million in transfer fees alone since January & spent £3 million. OMG!!! NO JOTA, NO KYOGO, NO KUHN and NO REPLACEMENTS. Palmas away, Narowski’s away, & we have one left back. And the league starts in 4 days!!! It makes me laugh when the club says “we want to progress in the UCL. LOL!!!!!!!
