Jim Craig: The day Celtic sign George Connelly

After his schooling at St Serf’s Primary in High Valleyfield and during his time at St Margaret’s Secondary School in Dunfermline, George Connelly joined junior club Tulliallan Thistle in 1963, at the age of 14.

One year later, in July 1964, George signed provisional forms with Celtic and on this day in 1965, that signing became a permanent one, as the Fifer put pen to paper at Celtic Park to begin what would prove to be a fascinating – and eventually troublesome – career.
