Former Cardiff City Chairman, Steve Borley, has claimed that Joe Ledley forced a move to Parkhead in 2010.
Ledley joined Celtic on a free transfer in 2010, which Borley discussed on Twitter: “I did my best to persuade Joe to stay and club to offer him a deal which at the time would have made him highest paid player but we had a new CEO who did not understand the transfer rules and an agent who was hell bent on moving him to Celtic. Stoke were very keen as well.”
Ledley hit back at those claims, settling the score: “Steve, I remember the meeting well. I was never going to be the highest paid player. I respected you – as you were the only person to discuss any promised ‘contract’”
Following the exchange, one Celtic fan tweeted the Welshman and asked him if he was pleased with how things panned out. Ledley, who won three league titles, a Scottish cup and reached the Champions League last 16 at Celtic, responded: “Best decision of my life, I loved every minute of it.”
