Jordan Larsson linked with sensational Celtic move but it is almost certainly not happening

Jordan Larsson has been linked with a sensational move to Celtic as a report claims that Spartak Moscow are looking to shift the 24-year-old but this shouldn’t get Celtic fans excited as the move is extremely unlikely. According to Aftonbladet , David Moyes’ West Ham, Borussia Dortmund and Celtic are interested in signing the £8m-rated attacker. However, the career trajectory of J. Larsson suits a move to a Top 5 League as he continues to grow and he will certainly look to grow as a player in his own right, not simply following in his father’s footsteps.

J. Larsson was linked with a sensational move (mostly by Celtic fans) shortly before he decided to swap Sweden for Russia but no move ever transpired. However, Larsson admitted last December to Russia Today that Celtic had a special place in his heart and that he would love to play for the club if an opportunity ever presented itself.

“For me Celtic will always have a special place in my heart. Not that I’ve played there in that sense, but it was the first place where I saw football as a young kid going with my mother to see games when my father was playing. That’s where I have the biggest memories in my head.

“‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ you have all the scarves before the games and everything so of course it will always have a special place in my heart.

“But at the same time since my father is who he is at the club I think for me personally if I would ever have the chance to play there then I would like to establish myself even more, make my own name before I would play there if that chance would ever come up but of course it’s tempting.

“Not that they are interested in that sense but If I think about it to be able to play there would be a dream in that sense. For me my whole life has been about proving I’m a good player, that I’m my own person you know.”

If Jordan was to join Celtic, he would have to work very hard to even be mentioned in the same breath as his father, who is one of the greatest players to ever play for Celtic. £650k was the fee that Wim Jansen paid Feyenoord in 1997 and it is fair to say that this represents one of the best pieces of transfer business in modern times.

We will chalk this rumour down as extremely unlikely to ever transpire even if it would be nice to see Larsson on the back of a shirt playing for Celtic again.
