Jose Mourinho tipped to sign Odsonne Edouard for Tottenham

Jose Mourinho is being tipped to bring Celtic star Odsonne Edouard to Tottenham according to a sensational report from Football Insider. Despite Tottenham signing Carlos Vinicius on loan from Benfica, Darren Bent believes that the North London side should make a move for Edouard to bolster their attacking line for next season. Bent claims that Edouard’s abilities would bring a lot to the Spurs attack and it would be a shrewd move for Mourinho to make.

However, you would think that Edouard would see the progression of his friend Moussa Dembele and hope that he could achieve that too. Therefore he may decide to go somewhere where he is first pick – a reunion with Brendan Rodgers at Leicester perhaps and not a bottom half Premier League club where he is likely to have his creative edge nullified.

Edouard has been linked with a move away from Celtic with Leicester, AC Milan and even Real Madrid mentioned as being interested in the attacker. However, with Celtic’s poor form as well as a quiet season from the 23-year-old, the club may struggle to find the optimal fee for their prized asset.

The French striker has eighteen months remaining on his current Celtic deal and has been linked with a multi-million move from the club since the summer. However, now we have been given the clearest indication that the 23-year-old is planning for his future by joining Stellar Sports.

Celtic are reportedly willing to accept £25m for their star striker which will fund the rebuild for next season. The club have Leigh Griffiths, Albian Ajeti and Patryk Klimala in attack should Edouard leave the club. It would be hard to begrudge a player of his talent from wanting to play in The Champions League, something poor planning and recruitment from the club have caused.
