Jota named in Provisional Portugal World Cup Squad alongside Cristiano Ronaldo

Celtic’s star winger Jota, has been named in Portugal’s provisional squad for the 2022 Qatar World Cup. This is an astonishing achievement for Jota, as he is getting recognition for his fantastic recent form.

Fernando Santos has named Jota to his 55-man squad along with some of football’s current greats like Cristiano Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes and Bernardo Silva, all of who play in the Premier League.

The 23-year-old Jota has excelled under Ange Postecoglou at Celtic, scoring 13 and assisting 14 goals last season. Jota’s form has also extended into this season, where he has scored 5 and assisted 5 so far.

However, the 68-year-old manager Fernando Santos will have to trim the 55-man squad down to 26. So, this means the likelihood of Jota making an appearance in Qatar this Winter is unfortunately slim.

In any case, the endorsement from the Portuguese manager will be a thrilling sense of approval for Jota and will be a major confidence boost. Furthermore, seeing his name alongside Cristiano Ronaldo’s is a dream come true for Jota as the Portuguese legend is a personal hero for Jota.
