Journalist claims that Celtic fail in €5M bid for Hajduk Split centre half Mario Vuskovic

Hajduk Split have rejected an official bid of €5Million from Celtic for the Croatian centre back Mario Vuskovic, according to Italian Sports Journalist Nicolò Schira, who also confirms that Torino are also interested in the player while Napoli previously enquired about the player back in January.

The excellent Everything Celtic account has previously suggested the 19 year old would be a decent signing for Celtic and tonight reported on this breaking news from a journalist who claims to be a transfer market specialist.

“Mario Vušković – Celtic have tonight had a bid of €5M rejected for Hajduk Split centre-back Mario Vušković. The 19 year old has been in terrific form this season in an underperforming Hajduk side & is set to leave the club this summer,” before adding “Before people ask. I don’t know who’s lining these players up, I’m just passing on information supplied by a journalist with 121K followers.”

If this report is correct and Celtic are trying to sign a central defender for €5M then who is making this call? Is it the new manager, or alternatively is Peter Lawwell still trying his hand as the club’s Chief Scout?
