Journalist claims that Celtic won’t be doing any more business in this window

As expected, deadline day came with a flurry of rumours. Fans were hoping for the arrivals of Filip Benkovic and Victor Wanyama. And then news broke out that the Hoops might even be in for Newcastle United’s Christian Atsu. But with the clock quickly ticking down, any business is starting to look unlikely now.

And if Stephen Gowan is to be believed, then Celtic have indeed closed shop for this window. When asked on Twitter, the journalist said:

If this turns out to be the case then it is hard to judge whether this has been a successful window or not. While the club has managed to move out some of the deadwood, not much was brought in to improve on them.

In fact, following the departures of Scott Sinclair and Lewis Morgan, they have been left with a real lack of depth on the wings and it is surprising that no one has been brought in to fill that position. And while Ismaila Soro and Patryk Klimala arrive with big reputations, it will be interesting to see how they do in Scottish football.
