Journalist explains hold up in Nicolas Kuhn to Celtic transfer, arrive next week

Celtic are close to completing a deal to sign Nicolas Kuhn from Rapid Vienna. The Scottish Champions are looking to make the winger their first signing of the January window as Brendan Rodgers aims to improve the quality of the first team.

There had been fears that a deal is being prolonged due to penny-pinching tactics by the Celtic board; however, journalist Mark Hendry has clarified that the delay is down to Rapid wanting to have a player in the door to replace Kuhn before allowing him to go.

The player will, however, likely arrive in Glasgow next week as Celtic look to improve ahead of the second half of the season. The club are expected to be in the market for a left back and a centre forward as Brendan eyes improved depth ahead of the return after the winter break.

Given the amount of wide options that Celtic have, e.g. Mikey Johnston and Yang, the club could incentivise the deal by offering a player on loan for the second half of the season.

  1. So it’s not Celtic haggling over a few hundred grand that’s holding things up 😅

RVienna have had as long as these negotiations have gone on(a week or two?) to look for a replacement & i imagine they’ll have scouts always ready with new players names, so another few days waiting on them finalising something isn’t the end of the world

Hope Celtic are entering negotiations elsewhere for players in the meantime!

I seen talk, possibly on here, of negotiations for 21yo Striker Kvitsgaarden,€8m or there abouts…think we’d need one more with him.

Bernardo signed permanently is a must!

Also, Turnbull looks likely to leave so signing another classy goalscoring midfielder is a must, and we need the best Scottish reared players we can get for the UEFA 8 rule.

    Left Back!

…i’d throw another Right Back in there too, someone different, different skillset, different option.

Goalkeeper. In no hurry to lose Joe but we need another number 1! Too big a club to only have one decent keeper.
