Buckie Thistle sign promising striker from Aberdeen ahead of Celtic clash

Celtic’s Scottish Cup opponents Buckie Thistle have completed the impressive signing of Liam Harvey from Aberdeen. Harvey, 18, is a product of the Aberdeen academy and made three appearances for the first team. However, with just six months remaining on his deal, his contract was terminated and he signed a three-and-a-half year deal with Buckie.

As reported by the Press & Journal, Thistle manager Graeme Stewart confirmed the deal to sign the player who spent the first half of the season on loan with Elgin.

“We are delighted to sign a player of Liam’s quality, he’s a very talented player and will add a lot to our squad.

“We have fought off clubs at a higher level to get his signature and are thrilled to get him on board.

“We’ve been looking for a striker since Kyle (Macleod) left and have been watching Liam for over a year.

“He lives in Elgin so is fairly local, and he’ll bring strong competition to our forward line. He has scored goals throughout his short career.”

The visitors from the North East are said to be bringing 5,000 supporters to Paradise next weekend as they look to enjoy their Scottish Cup day out.

Meanwhile, Celtic will hope to have Nicolas Kuhn in their ranks when the Highlanders visit Glasgow’s East End. The German winger is close to securing a £3m switch to the Scottish Champions with a deal being delayed by Rapid wanting to get a replacement sorted first. Thereafter, Brendan Rodgers wants to sign a LB and ST in the remaining weeks of the window.
