Journalist says Celtic were offered Sydney van Hooijdonk

Journalist Mark Hendry has updated Celtic fans on the reported links with Sydney Van Hooijdonk. The Scottish Champions have been in the market for a striker to offer Kyogo competition.

Taking to Twitter/X, the Football Scotland journo said that Celtic were not keen on bringing in the 23-year-old.

Hendry says that the Celts were offered Van Hooijdonk but were not interested in signing the Dutch striker. The Bologna striker is keen on making the move away in the January window as he’s keen on getting game time up.

Celtic, meanwhile, fit into the transfer triangle in a peculiar way with SVH. The Scottish Champions are closing in on a deal to sign Adam Idah from Norwich City, who are engaged in talks with Bologna to sign Van Hooijdonk on a loan-to-buy deal.

Now, Brendan Rodgers side look set to add the Irish Internationalist to their ranks in the coming days. The club are looking to add quality and are targeting a couple more deals in the coming days.

  1. This translates to me as the board saying to the fans , square go come ahead , absolute wind-up , Lawell is either delusional or unconcerned for his own safety , Madness and insulting in equal measure , Hail hail .

  2. What the absolute f**k is this article. How can you put these two sentences together: Now, Brendan Rodgers side look set to add the Irish Internationalist to their ranks in the coming days. The club are looking to add quality … The irony in those two lines. Are you for real this is a bloody scandal and you just report it like its ok. You should be lambasting the whole thing, the transfer window was bad but it’s just reached crisis point with deals like this. You should be organising to the the car park over this shite transfer rumour instead of giving it any credence

  3. We could sign the best striker in the world, he wouldn’t do anything as the ball won’t get to him.
Joe Hart getting more passes than Kyogo should tell you the Rodgers playing style has to change.
    Boring Boring Boring Rodgers.
I could go on and on but Rodgers is no 1 problem, Lawells & Nicholson next.

    Support and encourage the players.
    The management have to go.

  4. Agree with both comments, more bargain basement buys from lawwell, grow a pair rodgers and stand up for the team, stop being a YES MAN.
