Juranovic to miss Morocco match, ‘many clubs keen on signing him’

Josip Juranovic’s World Cup is over as The Celtic right back will NOT play in tomorrow’s 3rd place play-off match against Morocco due to a calf injury – that’s the latest from Fabrizio Romano who also reveals that Juranovic played against Argentina in the World Cup semi-final despite the calf injury which will now keep him sidelined for 8/10 days.

The transfer expert also noted that JJ”s future will be discussed and determined over the next few weeks ahead of the January window opening with ‘many clubs keen in signing him’.

That means that it will probably be the 2 January trip to Ibrox before Juranovic is ready to play for Celtic and of course by that time the transfer window will be open and he might have already agreed a deal with another club by that stage. And with Celtic looking to maximise the transfer fee, it’s debatable whether that would be put in jeopardy by an appearance in the Glasgow Derby.

As things stand Celtic only have Anthony Ralston available at right back, with perhaps Stephen Welsh being cover. That changes at the start of 2023 when new signing Ally Johnston is officially registered as a Celtic player, so he will be available to make his debut at Ibrox if that’s the way Ange Postecoglou goes.

And the Celtic manager – who was out pushing cars out of the snow near Lennoxtown this morning – will have the option to play his World Cup semi-finalist. That doesn’t seem likely though.
