Karamoko – Celtic’s comeback kid

Celtic’s long injury list has been a motif of this season under new manager, Ange Postecoglou. From pre-season onwards, the team has been hit with setback after setback, leaving both the manager and fans frustrated. One of the early season casualties was Karamoko Dembele, who was left with a severe injury following a hefty, cowardly challenge in a friendly versus Bristol City.

The teenage winger was left devastated as he was just given the chance to impress the new boss before being sidelined for the long-term. Dembele has been working away for some months now, undergoing an intense rehab that is similar to our other long-term absentee, Chris Jullien.

It now look though as if there is some positive news on the injury front in regards to the case of Karamoko. Football Scotland have reported that the player is two weeks ahead if his anticipated rehab schedule and that he will rejoin his Celtic teammates next week on the training pitch at Lennoxtown.

He has been training on his own as of this week and now looks to be ready to integrate back into the first team setting. A long lay-off will no doubt have had the player itching to get back to playing football and trying to show Ange Postecoglou what he’s been missing.

Dembele is still just 18 years-old and has plenty of room for potential. His meteoric rise from the Celtic youth ranks to the development squad at just 13 spoke volumes of his extraordinary talent that still has to be tapped and moulded. Ange Postecoglou may have plenty to think about after the football resumes after the winter break now.

WE’VE GOT SOMETHING TWICE AS GOOD…

Thanks to everyone who ordered Harry Hood – Twice as Good for Christmas presents. If you got an Ange jumper instead then why not order this brilliant book by Matt Corr, or indeed David Potter’s biography of another Celtic legend Alec McNair – born on this day incidentally – from Celtic Star Books or from the official Celtic stores?

I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.
