Kasper continuing to prove his worth, what a brilliant signing he’s been for Celtic…
Kasper Schmeichel has been superb for Celtic since his arrival in the summer to replace Joe Hart, who ha decided to hang up his gloves at the end of last season.
Kasper as we all knew had a huge reputation a talented goalkeeper, but I think most of us have been pleasantly surprised at how much of an impact he’s made so far in his first four months at Celtic, especially when it comes to his distribution. Joe Hart was superb for us, but I think even Joe would admit that he wasn’t the best with the ball at his feet.
Kasper is miles ahead in that department and I’ve never seen a Celtic keeper so comfortable with the ball at his feet. Left foot, or right, the Danish international is comfortable and he’s so crucial to the way we play. We used to have our hearts in our mouths when the ball was put back to Joe or any other Celtic keeper, but with Kasper you just feel so relaxed.
That has been evident not just domestically, but in Europe also. Kasper is a class act and he showed that yesterday, and not just with his distribution, but his shot stopping ability. Callum McGregor and Nicolas Kuhn may have been the goal scorers, but without Kasper’s saves we wouldn’t have been sitting top of the table this afternoon.
Goalkeepers sometimes don’t get the credit they deserve, but Kasper has been so vital for Celtic, and not just yesterday, but throughout the season so far. What a signing he’s proven to be for Brendan Rodgers!
