Kenny Miller picks four Celts in his Team of the Season so far

Former Celtic striker Kenny Miller has picked four of the current Celtic team in his Team of the Season so far. The nomadic Scottish striker turned coach and pundit told Go Radio that he would want four of Ange Postecoglou’s team in his XI based on performances in the first half of the season.

Anthony Ralston, Callum McGregor, Tom Rogic and Kyogo made up the Celtic contingent in the team with just two Rangers players being included. Although to be fair to Miller, he has picked players from across the league to make up the team.

“My back four’s going to be Ralston, Souttar and Paul Hanlon at left centre-back. He’s been outstanding this year, even in the League Cup final against Celtic.

“When you watch him, he’s as reliable as they come. His positioning, his understanding, his reading of the game.

“He’s done it for 12-15 years now. I did have Charlie Mulgrew as he’s had a really good season, Porteous and Carter-Vickers could go in as well.

“At left-back, I know Calvin Bassey’s been playing centre-back, but he’s a left-back by trade so I’m going to go with him.”

Two players that have been excellent under Ange Postecoglou – Tom Rogic and Callum McGregor were also included. The captain lifted his first piece of silverware as skipper in the 2-1 win over Hibs at Hampden earlier this month.

“I’ve tried to stay away from just the Old Firm (sic) but the midfield are three Old Firm (sic) players.

“Callum McGregor sitting, with Tom Rogic, who has been absolutely rejuvenated under Ange, and Joe Aribo, who has been Rangers’ most consistent player.

“Three unbelievable players. They can all contribute in any area, McGregor is not the typical No.6 but he can play in there and control a game.

“The relationship he would have with both of them, you wouldn’t be able to get the ball off them.”

Despite being excellent since arriving on loan from Benfica, Jota was not included in Miller’s team owing to the fact that he suffered an injury at the beginning of the month.

“I mentioned Jota but he’s on the bench, and I’ll tell you why. The front three I’ve gone for is Martin Boyle, who has been sensational and electric.

“Kyogo, it’s obvious. And I’m going to go for Tony Watt based on the fact Jota has played less than half of the league games for Celtic. He’s missed a bit of football, and Tony Watt is the league’s top scorer playing for Motherwell. Fantastic.”
