Kieran Tierney can do a Moussa Dembele and return to Celtic Park for Epic Ten-in-a-Row Party

JAMES FORREST has jumped to the defence of Kieran Tierney who earlier this week told Open Goal about the levels of abuse that he suffered as a result of leaving Celtic in a £25million transfer to Arsenal last August.

Tierney certainly caused a stir when he revealed that some moron painted JUDAS on a wall near his family home and also that he’s been too scared to return to Celtic Park as a result if the hostility that came his way as a result of the transfer to the Premier League giants.

It’s obvious that there were a section of the Celtic support who took the transfer of Tierney – regarded as one of our own, the supporter in the team – but it is a tiny minority who took things way too far. The vast majority of the Celtic support harbour no ill-feeling towards the player and most of those annoyed at the time have long since got over it.

Most Celtic supporters were as delighted at KT helping Arsenal win the FA Cup as they were watching Moussa Dembele core a double against Manchester City last week to end their Champions League pursuit. And remember big Moussa took some stick himself when he left for Lyon in a rushed £20million deal after falling out with Brendan Rodgers.

Moussa wasn’t too bothered about that and he was back and on the park with his pals as Celtic celebrated the 8-in-a-Row triumph last May.

KT likewise would be advised to make the Ten-in-a-Row party a date for the diary and he will be made to feel very welcome indeed by 99.99% of the Celtic support.

And that is something that yesterday James Forrest – the player, not the blogger – agreed with. “One hundred percent. Everyone knows how mad KT is about Celtic and he’s worked so hard, coming through with the youths here and he’s put in great performances and had so many great memories with Celtic,” Jamesy told the media on Thursday, as reported by Glasgow Times.

“Over time he will definitely be welcomed back. He texts all the boys and he still watches all the games that he can. I think over time he will definitely be welcome back and you wouldn’t rule it out him maybe playing for Celtic again as well.

“I remember at the time it was difficult for his family and for him as well. It was the only club he had been at, so it was the first time he had ever moved.

“I think it made it harder for him, he’s said that himself, reading stuff (on social media). It wasn’t the majority, but he maybe still took it in. I think over time it will get better and he will definitely be welcomed back.”

On the notion that KT will be there to celebrate the Ten, Jamesy is well up for that himself. ““I think obviously that’s what everyone at the club wants to get and KT has been a part of that.

“There have been so many players who have been a part of the success up to now. I think it’s too far early to talk about, hopefully there is another successful season and we can have that call at the end of the season hopefully.”
