‘Kieran Tierney? Celtic’s credibility is at stake,’ David Potter

Let’s have an end to this nonsense! With glee, the media have been telling us that it is only a matter of time before Kieran Tierney departs from us to Everton or Tottenham Hotspur. Goodness knows how many million pounds will exchange hands, they tell us, and by the beginning of the season, KT will be playing in the Premier League.

No, a thousand times, no, a million times, no! It must not happen! No! (Do you get my drift?)

Celtic would lose ALL credibility if this were to happen. The Double Treble would count for nothing, and the Treble Treble would not even begin to happen. There is not ONE SINGLE CELTIC SUPPORTER in the WORLD who would be in favour of KT moving on, no matter what money is given in return. (Does anyone disagree with me on this one, by the way? If so, let him/her speak out!)

Those of us old enough to remember 1977 still cringe at the selling of Dalglish on the eve of the season, something that allowed Rangers to win a domestic treble and saw the beginning of the end of Jock Stein as manager. The consequences of Tierney going would be no less severe.

IT

MUST

NOT

HAPPEN!

And please let us tell everyone of our feelings, just in case anyone at Celtic Park allows their mind to drift in that direction. The selling of Kieran Tierney could lead inexorably to Steven Gerrard at long last winning a League title, such would be the feeling of devastation and disillusion of the Celtic support.

Please, Celtic, take us seriously on this one. I repeat, there is not one Celtic supporter in Christendom (or anyplace else) who would be happy at this.

Let us have an immediate statement to the effect that it is not going to happen!
