Kieran Tierney reveals Celtic retirement plans

Kieran Tierney has said that when he retires he will return to his old life of following Celtic home and away. The left-back made over 170 appearances for Celtic, winning five league titles and three League Cups and Scottish Cups during his time whilst enjoying hero status with supporters as being ‘one of us’.

The former Celtic defender left the Scottish Champions in the summer of 2019 for a fee in the region of £25m, becoming the most expensive Scottish export. Now, he told the Arsenal match day programme that he plans to return to Scotland to follow Celtic, whilst considering doing his coaching badges.

“I have thought about it, but it’s hard to say with it being so far away.

“It’s not crossed my mind to do any coaching badges or anything like that yet.

“Some of the older players talk about it, and doing the qualifications, it’s probably something you think more about when you get over 30, but before that it’s all about your playing career.

“Well when I finish playing I’ll be back in Scotland, no doubt going back to my old life of supporting Celtic home and away again! I’ll be back there doing something anyway.

“I’ll definitely live in Scotland when I finish playing, 100 per cent. I miss it every day.”

Bolingoli, Hayes, Taylor and Laxalt have all been called upon since Tierney switched Glasgow for London proving that Celtic are still struggling to find a viable replacement for the Scotland Internationalist.

You wouldn’t be surprised to see Tierney returning to Celtic in a few years as he enters the twilight of his career. The player is a huge supporter and clearly misses home but he is ambitious enough to see that he can comfortably go to the top of the game. We will likely see him back at the club in some capacity.
