Brendan Rodgers excited by Kieran Tierney’s return to Celtic…

The left-back has signed a five-year contract with Celtic following the expiration of his deal with Premier League side Arsenal. During his initial stint at Celtic, Tierney featured in 170 matches and secured 11 domestic trophies. He left in 2019 for a record-setting £25 million transfer to North London and has now returned to his boyhood club.
Speaking to the official club website, Brendan Rodgers shared his thoughts following the official confirmation of Tierney’s return: “We are delighted to welcome Kieran back to Celtic,” the Irishman said.

“He is such a talented, high-quality player, and he will be a massive addition to our squad. Kieran has always had Celtic in his blood, and he is excited to be coming back to the place he loves.”
“He is someone who has given so much to Celtic already, and I know he is so motivated and hungry to help the club bring more and more success to our fans.”
“We are so pleased to bring such an elite player back to the club, and I look forward to working with him again and the rest of the squad, as we face the many challenges ahead at home and in Europe.”
Over six years at Arsenal, Tierney made 144 appearances, claiming an FA Cup and two Community Shields, and also spent a season on loan with La Liga’s Real Sociedad.

With one left-back through the door, it looks as if Tierney’s replacement back in 2019, Greg Taylor, looks set to end his six-year stay with Celtic following his agreement to sign with Greek Pro League side PAOK.
Rodgers’ men have been linked with various defenders in recent weeks and with Celtic seemingly completing their business early, there may be some movement on the left-back front in the coming weeks.
“When I drive by it sometimes it’s a strange feeling. It brings back so many emotions and memories” 💬

Matt Corr described brilliantly one iconic Kieran Tierney moment from the 2017 Scottish Cup Final on The Celtic Star earlier today, it’s certainly well worth a read.
