Kyogo’s mushroom hairstyle led to Celtic star’s trademark celebration

It was Kyogo Furuhashi’s turn answer questions from the Celtic support on the club’s official twitter account today. This little glimpse into Kyogo’s experience at Celtic shows a player clearly enjoying his time at the club and adjusting well to the challenges of moving to the other side of the world and learning a new language while having to handle the frustrations of a four month injury lay-off.  Here’s how the Celtic talisman got on…

Who has the best haircut other than yourself?

Kyogo: “Everybody! All the haircuts are short unlike mine and look smart!”

What’s your favourite memory in a Celtic shirt so far?

Kyogo: “Winning the League Cup! Thanks to the fans, the staff and my teammates I was able to score two goals to help the team. I’ll never forget the happiness I had in that moment! We play football to feel that emotion.”

What player past or present has had the biggest influence on you?

Kyogo: “A lot of players really but if I had to choose, I would say Andrés Iniesta and David Villa.”

What did you do to keep motivated whilst being out of the squad for a number of weeks?

Kyogo: “Seeing all my teammates playing so well and getting great victories kept me motivated – I wanted to return to the pitch as soon as possible to join them.”

How have you found adapting to Glasgow with the language barrier?

Kyogo: “Now I can understand much more! My teammates have always helped me so there was no problems from the start.”

Favourite chant from the fans?

Kyogo: “My chant and You’ll Never Walk Alone. I can feel the unity and integration through these songs!”

Is there a teammate you’re closest to?

Kyogo: “We are all very close but especially Liel Abada, Jota, Anthony Ralston, everybody really!”

Where did you get your iconic celebration from?

Kyogo: “A lot of teammates mentioned about my “mushroom” hairstyle so it has become my trademark celebration!”
