Last Time v St Mirren – Moi On Target, Celtic toil to Win in Paisley

With Celtic destined to spend Boxing Day in Paisley, we have the opportunity to look back at the last two clashes with the Buddies. Th previous two results against the Premiership strugglers have been the same – 2-0 but Jim Goodwin’s side will draw upon the fact that they have made it tough for Celtic.

Firstly, we look back to April this year when Neil Lennon’s side closed in on the title with a win in Paisley. An early header from Timo Weah, a deflected finish from Ryan Christie and a missed penalty from Olivier Ntcham were the  main talking points; however, St Mirren had chances in the game and will be confident that they can give Celtic a Christmas upset.

Next we have the only other meeting between the sides so far this season and that came at the end of October. Despite Celtic’s dominance, they struggled to convert against a resolute St Mirren defence. As the game progressed, the Buddies looked more and more confident; however, Neil Lennon’s side got the breakthrough through Moi Elyounoussi and followed it up five minutes later with a goal from James Forrest.
