Lennon Confirms Edouard Doubt For Cup Final

Odsonne Edouard is a ‘doubt’ for the Betfred Cup Final with Rangers next weekend after the French striker missed today’s 4-1 win in Dingwall. The 21-year-old hasn’t featured since the win at home to Livingston last week and Neil Lennon has now confirmed that he is worried the talisman will miss the Cup final next weekend.

Speaking to BBC Sportsound, the manager wasn’t willing to confirm whether Edouard would be fit or not, instead he suggested that he would be taking a day by day approach to see if the striker will make it.

“I can’t pinpoint when he’ll be back.

“We have to soldier on without him at the minute and we’ll see how he is as the week goes on.

“We’re taking it day by day.”

Lewis Morgan has made for a stand-in striker in the last two games as Leigh Griffiths attempts to work back to full fitness and Eddy remains out injured. Morgan scored against Rennes in the Europa League on Thursday but was quieter in Dingwall today.

“Obviously we have Griffiths as well almost fully fit.

“So that will be a welcome boost to the squad when he’s up to full speed.”

Without being disrespectful to either, Griffiths’ record speaks for itself – Edouard’s overall game is further ahead of Griffiths’. so much so that the psychological boost to the Steven Gerrard’s team would be huge if he were to be sidelined.

It would be a huge blow for Celtic if Edouard wasn’t fit to play, especially given the fact that the Celtic injury list is amassing quite collection of important players. Currently, on the sidelines we have Ntcham, Bolingoli, Elhamed, Hayes, Bayo and Elyounoussi as well as Edouard.
