Levels of frustration through the roof over at Ibrox as Dave King reacts to Ange Homecoming Tour

Levels of frustration must be through the roof at Ibrox at this moment in time. Having returned from the winter break with a six-point advantage in the league title race, a Glasgow Derby ‘skelping helped see in a nine-pint turnaround that now has Celtic sitting top of the league by three clear points.

Add to that the January signing of Aaron Ramsay, apparently a player akin to the talents of Paul Gascoigne, has seen their great Welsh hope start one solitary game, and appear more invested in his fitness returning for his international ambitions than he does in gambling any of what’s left in the tank on actually attempting to impact theRangers title run in.

And now the support is struggling to swallow the crumbs thrown from the Celtic table as it was announced that the tribute act will travel to Sydney as the Hoops support act for the Ange Postecoglou Homecoming Tour of Australia – apparently for a fraction of the appearance fee Celtic will coin in.

Now it appears the ire directed to theRangers boardroom from a revolting support has afforded what many a dodgy businessman uses to gain an advantage – in every catastrophe lies an opportunity. Step forward the Lying King.

No doubt ever frustrated at his shareholding’s continuing dilution with every flurry of confetti manufactured to meet the monthly wage bill, big Dave King is back and portraying himself as the man of the peepul.

As reported in Football Scotland Dave King is back, he’s making his moves, and implosion seems as likely amongst the majority shareholders at Ibrox as it does in the dressing room or in the stands. What a choice when it comes to who to back, the man a South African judge labelled a ‘glib and shameless liar’ or the used car salesman who agreed to ride Celtic’s coattails to Australia flying economy class.

“I am 100 per cent with all supporters on this. It is not something that I would have sanctioned if I was still on the board. Unfortunately, this is another in an increasingly long list of recent instances where the club has shown its indifference to supporter wishes and interests.

“The shoddy treatment of Club 1872, the firing of Mark Hateley, Richard Gough, Derek Johnstone, etc, as ambassadors, the unseemly spat with the football authorities to assist Douglas’s personal agenda, and the completely unnecessary loss of a manager that won title number 55 and would have successfully defended the title are among the concerns that have caught my attention.

“I have not spoken to Douglas since I stepped down as chairman but, as an ordinary supporter, I call on Douglas to reverse the cult of personality that has developed at the club and to remember that the present board are temporary custodians of the club on behalf of present and future generations of supporters.

“Recent success has unfortunately created short memories and supporters have every right to be concerned.”

Dave King may not have spoken to Douglas Park but he’s certainly ensuring he hears his message, and it’s one that looks like being timed to ensure maximum damage. In fighting amongst the big hitters and mental fragility in the changing room appears the current concerns at theRangers, and it couldn’t come at a better time of the season for Celtic.
