Lewis Morgan the only positive as Scotland lose to Peru

FORMER Celt Charlie Mulgrew started alongside rumoured Celtic target John McGinn for Scotland over night as Alex McLeish’s side lost 2-0 to Peru. Another former Celt Dylan McGeough also started and wore a face mask in what was a decent performance from the player whose contract has just ended at Hibs.

Lewis Morgan, Celtic’s exciting new arrival, replaced Matt Phillips in the second half and looked lively.

The other Celts in the squad – Ryan Christie and Jack Hendry – were unused substitutes, presumably they will get their outing in the second friendly against Mexico later this week.

Scotland, who never managed a single effort on goal, conceded though a penalty just before half-time after a moment off madness from the Millwall keeper Jordan Archer. Archer was at fault again just after the interval as a shot from Jefferson Farfan slipped under his body.

There was no way back for Scotland after that and the only comfort is that there was no further goals conceded.
