‘My life has changed so much, thanks to Celtic,’ KT

TOMORROW Kieran Tierney will become a veteran of FOUR flag days at Celtic Park, despite being only twenty one.

“That’s mad. I’m 21-years-old and I feel old as I played four seasons ago on Flag Day! I’ve now played in five different competitive seasons for Celtic, and I’m just hoping it continues to be honest.

Yes that’s right. KT said “I’m just hoping it continues to be honest.” He continued, with the chat which will be featured in tomorrow’s Matchday programme.

“Even back then, I never took that game for granted and I still never take any game or training session for granted here. I know what a huge honour it is, and it’s what I’ve always wanted. I really appreciate every second as a Celtic player, along with my family and friends. My life has changed so much since that first Flag Day and that’s down to Celtic.”

Let’s hope there will be plenty of more Flag Days for KT to enjoy as a Celtic star.

“It’s a bit of recognition for all the hard work the season before but it’s also a sign of a new campaign, a fresh start,” the defender said.

“We’re the champions from last year but we want to be the champions again next year. This is it, we go again and we need to try and be relentless and win every game, and hopefully we can start with three points.”

Winning the league again is always the main aim but when you start wining and retaining treble you start to get the taste for it.

“That’s the aim,” KT said. “There’s always going to be a lot of talk at the start of every season but what Celtic have done in the last seven years and what the Celtic teams I’ve been part of have done, is focus on ourselves, work hard in training to get better as a team and follow the gaffer’s instructions. So far, we’ve done that.

“In that changing room, there are so many good players in every position. If someone is injured, someone will step up and that’s the sign of a good team. It’s why we’ve been so successful because everyone works hard, everyone knows they’ll get a chance and everyone is in it together.

“It’s a team game, no matter if you’re in the stand, on the park or on the bench, we all want each other to do well, and that’s key to a successful team.”
