Lots to look forward to starting with Buckie Thistle, 18 days from today

Yesterday evening’s victory over St Mirren was rather pleasing. In what could have been a tricky fixture, we negotiated it with ease. It was a top performance from start to finish.

Daizen Maeda and Matt O’Riley gave us the perfect start with two quick fire goals, and from there we didn’t look back. Greg Taylor added a terrific third and we were unlucky not to add more goals to our tally due to some superb saves by the St Mirren goalkeeper.

The home side were of course reduced to ten men just before the interval, but it had no bearing on the outcome as we were still well in command of the game at the time. Something that was pointed out by Buddies boss Stephen Robinson, if only other opposition managers were that honest with their after match analysis regarding ourselves.

The players looked more confident and assured and carried on from where they left off against Dundee and theRangers, with the Kilmarnock and Hearts woes now fully out of our system.

It was a real team performance and showed that we are slowly but surely getting things together. The reaction from that home defeat against Hearts has been outstanding and the manager and players deserve great credit.

Four wins out of four over the festive period have put us in a great position and with important players such as Reo Hatate and Liel Abada back, plus more new faces expected in the window, and Brendan trimming the squad by moving on those players not in his plan.

So we have lots to look forward to in the second half of the season where we’ll be looking to win the Double. Meanwhile the players and staff can enjoy their break and re-charge the batteries before the action returns on Sunday 21 January against Buckie Thistle in the Scottish Cup. Counting down the clock that’s 18 days, six hours, 40 minutes since the time of writing. Can’t wait!
