Love Street

SATURDAY 3 MAY 1986 was a remarkable day whose repercussions are still felt to this day in Edinburgh!

For Celtic to win the Scottish League, they need to beat St.Mirren 4-0 at Love Street and hope that Dundee could beat Hearts at Dens Park. Incredibly, they proceeded to do just that with brilliant football at Love Street and two goals each by Judas and Brian McClair and a single strike by Paul McStay.

Then the Celtic support – the vast majority of the 17,557 at Love Street, went absolutely crazy when their transistors told them that Celtic-supporting Albert Kidd has scored for Dundee with a seven minutes remaining. He repeated the trick a few minutes later to effectively win the Championship for Celtic!

We covered this match quite extensively on The Celtic Star during the boring days of the recent international break.

For those who missed out on some brilliant articles we’ll re-post some of them this afternoon. Hugely enjoyable reading – and listening – material for Tims of all ages!
