Luis Palma breaks silence on his Celtic future

Luis Palma, the 24-year-old Honduran winger, has broken his silence on his football future after several weeks of uncertainty…

Honduran media outlet ON – Once Notices reports that while Palma will return to Celtic for the start of pre-season training, both parties are actively seeking a solution to see the 24 year-old Honduran international move on this summer, preferably in a permanent transfer but with another loan open to consideration.

And they report interest from Greek sources that suggest up to three alternative clubs, outside of Greek Champions Olympiacos, are interested in signing the Celtic winger.

Palma’s loan move at Olympiacos was underwhelming

The player, who played on loan at Olympiacos in Greece, confirmed this weekend that he will NOT continue with the red-and-white club. Palma used his Instagram account to officially bid farewell to the Greek team, putting an end to rumours about a possible renewal or purchase.

With this, the Honduran player must return to Celtic, the club that holds his contract until 2028, although his continued contract there is also NOT guaranteed.

Luis Palma lost prominence and ended up out of the plans in Greece

After a promising start at Olympiacos, Palma’s performance declined. Toward the end of the tournament, Spanish coach José Luis Mendilibar relegated him to the bench and left him out of the squad for important matches, making it clear that his future at the club was in jeopardy.

Given this situation, Palma’s chances of staying on diminished dramatically. Neither side spoke publicly about the matter until the player himself put an end to the speculation.

He will return to Celtic, but both parties will look for an exit

Although the Honduran is expected to report to Celtic FC at the start of pre-season, his return will not be for a long time. The Scottish club and the player’s entourage are already working on a move during the transfer market, which could take the form of a new loan or a permanent transfer.

Palma’s priority is to gain playing time for the upcoming qualifying round with the Honduras national team, heading into the 2026 World Cup. Therefore, both he and his representatives are looking for a destination where he will have a greater role to play.

Meanwhile, local media in Greece report that at least three major clubs in the country are interested in signing him for the next season, which would keep the “Prince” in Greek football.

“I have a contract with Celtic, I can’t talk about any other team.”

Speaking of the title win at Olympiacos, Luis Palma said:  “Winning titles is always good. This season has been a great learning experience for me. Now we hope the upcoming pre-season will be the best. I have to return to Celtic.”

“The experience was very nice because I’d been there before (after playing for Aris), and being in the biggest team in Greece is very nice. I have a contract with Celtic, I can’t talk about any other team. From the moment I have a contract, I have a chance of earning a spot.”
