Maik Nawrocki set for Celtic debut on Tuesday night

Celtic’s latest signing Maik Nawrocki is set to make his debut on Tuesday evening against Athletic Club. The Scottish Champions face the Basque club in James Forrest’s testimonial and it will allow the £4.3m arrival to stake his claim for minutes ahead of the new season.

Speaking to Sky Sports earlier today, the Polish talent stated that he will be ready to show his worth to the team tomorrow, confirming that he will play a part against the La Liga side.

Nawrocki missed Celtic’s trip to Dublin to face Wolves with an ankle knock meaning that Brendan Rodgers had to name a relatively makeshift back four. Stephen Welsh and Liam Scales started at the heart of the Celtic defence with Greg Taylor and Tomoki Iwata. The versatility that Nawrocki brings allows him to be considered an option as a right-back as well as his preferred centre-back position.

Rodgers said that he will play two teams tomorrow to spread the minutes around the team but it also important that there are no injuries collected ahead of the opener against Ross County. Cameron Carter-Vickers, Carl Starfelt and Tony Ralston are all back training, which means that the Celts are nearing full strength for the beginning of the new campaign.
