Major breakthrough as Celtic to complete Jota deal

Celtic look set to make a major transfer breakthrough as Ange Postecoglou is set to seal the signing of his first summer signing – Jota. The 23-year-old impressed on a season-long loan and is available for £6.5m this summer as per the loan agreement struck with Benfica last summer.

According to The Daily Record, Celtic look set to clinch the signing of the attacker on a permanent deal. In 40 appearances, Jota scored 13 goals and assisted 14 times with the Celts becoming Scottish Champions once again due to his contribution. Journalist Scott Burns states that the Portuguese youngster’s representatives will meet with Celtic with a move nearing completion.

Jota was certainly one of the bright sparks on the pitch this season. Ange spoke to The Celtic Star after the final game of the season and said that he wanted to get his business done early, signing Jota would be a step in the right direction. Once the deal is done, attention will turn to signing Cameron Carter-Vickers from Tottenham. The manager will want a few more bodies in as he looks to get a team in the best shape ahead of retaining the title and having a crack at The Champions League.
