Man Utd sources deny rumour that Altay Bayindir is set to join Celtic

Celtic has NOT done a deal to sign Altay Bayindir, with Manchester United sources now denying that the goalkeeper has made a transfer decision…

According to Chris Wheeler from the Daily Mail, the Turkish goalkeeper will make a decision on whether he wants to move on or if he would rather remain at United. Since he has only featured once this season and No.2 behind the clear favourite in Andre Onana, a transfer could still be on the cards.

This would be a decent transfer for Celtic and although the Manchester United source has denied that Bayindir is set to join, there is no denial of the links. There is a chance that Brendan Rodgers could still try and secure his services during the summer, and I reckon that plenty of Celtic fans would be pleased to see Altay Bayindir succeed the legendary Joe Hart.

Earlier today we reported on the story, noting that the ‘done deal’ news appeared to be overly speculative. I also noted that since they signed him for £4.3m, they would likely be looking for a decent fee. The question is if Rodgers is willing to take a gamble on a goalkeeper who only played once for his side last season.

Bayindir made 116 appearances for Fenerbahce before moving to the Premier League outfit. He was a decent player for them, earning eight caps for his national side thanks to his domestic performances.

He is a player who certainly has the potential to do well in Scotland and should anything else come of this, as always, The Celtic Star will be there to bring you any breaking news.
