Manchester United keen on Moussa Dembele as Celtic await sell-on

Manchester United are reportedly keen on signing Moussa Dembele from Lyon, which would result in Celtic receiving a sell-on fee for the French striker. According to The Daily Mail, the Old Trafford outfit are considering Dembele for just £25m as they look to bolster their attack ahead of next season. Edison Cavani is expected to leave with Anthony Martial and Cristiano Ronaldo both said to be considering their futures.

Dembele has scored 9 and assisted 3 so far this season with interested suitors keen on maximising on the ex-Celtic star’s indecision regarding a new contract. Admittedly, the fee that Celtic were picturing receiving when the player left in the summer of 2018 was much higher than what is likely to be received now. Although, something is better than nothing as far as Celtic are concerned with Dembele. Lyon’s No.9 has just over a year remaining on his deal, meaning teams can make a move for him in the summer.

The 25-year-old was excellent for the club before leaving in a £20m deal for Lyon after falling out with Brendan Rodgers. It would have been expected for Dembele to really kick on and go to the top level instead of remaining in France but the deal to take him to Madrid on a permanent basis appeared to fall through, leaving him to spearhead the Peter Bosz attack.

Dembele called Celtic ‘the greatest club in the world’ previously. Dembele was a fan favourite instantly with a hat-trick against Rangers at Celtic Park. He actually managed seven goals and four assists in eight appearances against the Ibrox side. He scored 51 goals in 94 appearances across the two seasons, winning six trophies during his trophy-laden spell in Glasgow.

  1. As much as I liked Odsonne, Moussa da Skelpa was always my favourite striker at Celtic, except obviously for the KOK.

He deserves to strut his stuff in the PL.
