Martinez and Maloney? ‘Dont’ waste your money,’ says BT Man but Andre Villas Boas…

ROBERTO MARTINEZ will NOT leave Belgium to manage Celtic, it’s “not going to happen” – so says BT Sport presenter Darrell Currie.

“Don’t put your money on Roberto Martinez being the next Celtic manager. Not going to happen. He’s staying with Belgium for the next Euros at least.

“Wouldn’t rule it out in the future though… much further down the line. He loves Scottish football,” Currie said.

Yesterday news broke that Martinez and his assistant at Belgium, the former Celtic Star Shaun Maloney, were being lined up as possible successors to Brendan Rodgers and Chris Davies who walked out on Celtic a few weeks ago to join Leicester City.

The pair were installed as second favourites at the bookies behind Neil Lennon who had drifted in the betting as a result of this speculation.

We mentioned Andre Villas Boas yesterday as a possible ‘Rodgers-like’ replacement. The Former Tottenham and Zenit boss was most recently working in China but has been out of the game for a little while and is keen to get back again and a chance to manage Celtic would be of great interest to him.
