‘Massive deflection tactics, any old excuse to deflect from what’s happened on the pitch,’ Sutton

CHRIS SUTTON has launched a stinging attack on Rangers after the fiasco surrounding their calls for an independent investigation. The club claimed to have a ‘dossier of evidence’ against the SPFL but have yet to release any information. Speaking to Scottish Football Extra, the former Celtic striker said that the behaviour of the Ibrox club is merely a deflection from their poor showing on the pitch.

Celtic are 13 points ahead of Rangers with eight games left to play. Whilst Ligue 1 and the Belgian league ended without difficulty due to the league leaders being in a vastly superior position, Scottish football has not been afforded that luxury amidst this global pandemic.

Sutton was joined by his BT colleague Michael Stewart, who said that the clubs should be conducting themselves in a better fashion, instead of allowing the game to fall into disrepute.

An EGM is scheduled for 12 May, where 32 teams of 42 are required for an independent enquiry to be launched.

Sutton took to Twitter last night to ridicule Steven Gerrard’s claim that ‘Rangers Make Glasgow’.
