Celtic take on St Mirren at Celtic Park on Saturday afternoon in the final round of fixtures before the split. It’s a 3pm kick-off with Hearts taking on Motherwell at Tynecastle at the same time…
Then on Sunday lunchtime Falkirk are at home to the Rangers who will be looking to react to the outcome of the two Saturday afternoon matches in a tense and intriguing Scottish Premiership title race which has just five round of fixtures to be played.
Currently Hearts lead the pack on 67 points, while the Rangers are second just a point behind while Celtic trail the leaders by three points with 64 points. Hearts though were the side who blinked at the weekend dropping two points in a 2-2 draw at Livingston on Sunday after the Rangers defeated Dundee United 4-2 at Ibrox. Celtic were last to play on Easter Sunday and got their first points of the season in the City of Discovery with a hard fought 2-1 win over Dundee at Dens Park.

So onto this weekend and the Scottish FA has announced today, via their official website, the match official line-up for the three matches that all could have a bearing on the ultimate destination of the title. We usually only report on who has been appointed to the Celtic games but as the title run-in is looking like being incredibly close, it is worth checking who is handling each of the games involving the three teams looking to win the league.

For the Celtic v St Mirren match on Saturday afternoon Duncan Nicolson will referee the game and he will be assisted by Frank Connor and Scott Anderson running the lines. Heading up the VAR operation will be John Beaton and he will be assisted by Duncan Williams.

For the Hearts v Motherwell match also on Saturday afternoon Matthew MacDermid will referee the match with David McGeachie and David Roome running the lines. Steven McLean will be the VAR and he will be assisted by Graeme Leslie.

For the Falkirk v the Rangers match on Sunday afternoon Don Robertson will have the whistle, assisted by Daniel McFarlane and Calum Spence while Andrew Dallas will be in charge of the VAR monitors assisted by Sean Carr.
All we need now is the Green Brigade to be back on Saturday! Fingers crossed folks!

Not a great fan of the Green Brigade but if they can help to drive us on to the title I’d welcome them back with open arms provided they behave and don’t cost the club any more money in fines.
