McGregor and Bitton start, Four Celts involved at Hampden

Scotland have kicked off against Israel at Hampden this evening hoping to secure a vital win on the way to qualifying for the World Cup. Callum McGregor and Nir Bitton start on opposing sides having both started last week in Ange Postecoglou’s midfield in the win against Aberdeen.

There are two Celts on the bench, David Turnbull for Scotland and Liel Abada for Isreal.

Israel are currently in the lead thanks to an early goal from Zahavi.

There will likely be a four-week break during the World Cup of the SPFL Premiership fixtures in November/December as stars jet to the FIFA World Cup between November and December. The BBC are reporting a plan to shutdown while the competition in Qatar rages on. The scheduling plan is yet to be approved but it states that clubs will be liaised with regarding playing 16 rounds of fixtures between 30 July and 13 November, before halting until 17 December. The plan details that there will be five matches played within 15 days between 24 December and 7 January, including on Christmas Eve and Hogmanay.
